GreenSteam is co-built by the DreamSteam Foundation and the Green Guru Project. Two registered 501(c)(3) nonprofits. One shared aim: give students a clear path into real food rescue work.
Across the country, students need verified service hours for the National Honor Society, Bright Futures, college applications, and graduation requirements. Across the same country, good food goes to waste every day: restaurants, cafés, and grocers throw out perfectly good surplus while food banks, shelters, and community fridges go short.
These two worlds barely connect. Most students don't know which local businesses give away surplus food, or which programs need it. GreenSteam is the bridge: a WPS-endorsed platform with a protected directory of food-rescue listings, so a student can find surplus nearby, complete the rescue, and log it for confirmed hours.

Find a listing and complete the rescue
Open the directory, reach out to a food source or program, pick up surplus food, and deliver it where it is needed.

Log the entry on GreenSteam
Record the date, listings, notes, and photos or video so the rescue has a file to review.

Hours are reviewed against the log
The logged rescue is the evidence. Confirmed hours come from that record, not from an honor-system email.

Once the entry is confirmed, those hours are the WPS-endorsed service record.
Co-founded by two nonprofit founders
GreenSteam is built jointly by Arjun Bajpai (founder of the DreamSteam Foundation) and Shaan Guru (founder of the Green Guru Project). It operates under the 501(c)(3) status of both organizations, not one with the other as a sponsor. Two nonprofits, equal billing.

It started in Delhi: students learning in a makeshift classroom with a tarp roof, no walls, and a landfill next door. Arjun Bajpai founded DreamSteam Foundation as a 501(c)(3) so that visit would not be the end of the story. The work is now hands-on STEAM workshops and school-support funding in India, sessions at Eight Waves and FusionFest with Rotary District 6980 in Florida, origami cranes folded with the community for HarborChase, holiday outreach in Punta Cana, donated websites, and educational tools including agrader.ai. 6.7k+ people reached across India, the United States, and the Dominican Republic.

Green Guru Project
Founded by Shaan Guru · 501(c)(3)
Green Guru Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2024 in Orlando, Florida. It runs food rescue, financial literacy, and climate-action programs across four continents through 13 active members and partnerships with Panera, Windermere Prep, Ecotone Renewables, and Bears Outreach. That partner-vetting experience shapes the GreenSteam directory standards.
Neither nonprofit is the "parent". GreenSteam exists because both decided it should.
